Just like dogs, cats have the same need for support following trauma and surgery as well as management for ongoing conditions. Pain and discomfort can be a little harder to detect in cats due to their independent and stoic nature.

Indicators for pain and discomfort

  • Sleeping more than normal

  • Reluctant to jump

  • Loss of appetite 

  • Not wanting to be stroked

  • Not grooming themselves as much- may have a dull coat

  • Not going outside as much

  • Lameness

  • Behavioural changes such as aggression, hiding away, or not purring/vocalising as much.
